Bearded Dragon
Lizard
Bearded dragons are the dogs of the reptile world. They bask under their lights, eat salads and bugs, and genuinely seem to enjoy being handled. They need more space and UVB lighting than geckos, but their personality makes them worth it. The most popular pet lizard in the US by a wide margin.

Veiled Chameleon
Lizard
Veiled chameleons are the most commonly kept chameleon species and the easiest to breed in captivity. They need screen cages, dripper systems for water, and they stress easily if handled too much. Not a pet you hold, but one you watch. Males show incredible color when fired up or displaying.
$50-$300
Savannah Monitor
Lizard
Savannah monitors are the most affordable monitor lizard, but they need serious space and commitment. Adults need 8x4 foot enclosures minimum with deep substrate for burrowing. Most pet store savs are wild-caught and full of parasites. Captive-bred ones are calmer but hard to find.
